Design Specs and Templates

NOTE: To access the above design templates, you will need to have Quark 3.32 or higher.

Command Productions: wants your CD or tape to be designed successfully and in the most cost-effective and timely way. We are providing the following instructions and Quark templates to help you meet that end. We receive materials in various mediums to produce your CD-Rom disc, booklet, tray card, cassette label or j-card. We can make you look good whether you give us your design ideas on a cocktail napkin or a compact disc, but please understand that the more complete your material is when you hand it off to us, the less it will cost you to produce. Once you have designed your own materials, we will need you to provide the following various elements of your design together, before we can begin producing the job.

Please follow the guidelines below to expedite the completion of your project...

READ THIS...IF YOU ARE SUPPLYING FILM FOR PRINTING:

CD Booklet and Tray Card:
Color proof on paper for your composite film negatives.
Standard 4/C Process (CMYK) negatives, emulsion side down in 133 or 150 maximum dot.

CD Disc Face:
Film for silk-screening should be Positive, right reading, emulsion side up, 85-line screen maximum.
Film print should be exactly to size with no bleeds.
Indicate ink colors with Pantone/PMS identification numbers.
Additional charge for more than two colors.
No extra charge for one or two color silk-screening.

 

READ THIS...IF YOU ARE SUPPLYING TYPE/GRAPHICS ON COMPUTER DISC:

Macintosh is the accepted format. When supplying computer files, please include the following:

* Directory of files on disc, indicating which are to be output
* Paper printout of all pages for reference
* Printer fonts of all typefaces
* Linked Graphics - EPS, TIFF, etc
* CMYK Process color printing output format for Booklet and Tray Card (not RGB)
* Booklet bleeds (.125 inch) must be included
* Booklets should be set up as printer spreads not reader spreads
* Indicate the PMS color(s) for CD Disc face (no bleeds on Disc face)
* All registration marks must be colored "registration" not black
* Accepted formats: Macintosh QuarkXPress 4.1, Illustrator 8, Photoshop 5. We strongly adise that you do not prepare your entire layout in Photoshop as the resolution that is ideal for photographs will cause your type to appear somewhat jagged, especially on the CD Face itself.
